4th of July - Hero WOD - 9AM

Obstacles or Opportunities.

What is the nature of the World? It all depends on how you CHOOSE to see it.

How do you choose to see the world? As full or Obstacles or Opportunities? It's going to be HOT again for a number of days...shocker, it's Summer. Is the heat an obstacle or an opportunity? It's whichever you choose it to be.

An obstacle is something in your way. It's hot so it's going to be hard to breath, slow to move, painful to workout, annoying when you don't stop sweating even after your shower. Ugh, what a terrible obstacle to your life that it's going to be 20 degree hotter than you'd prefer!

An opportunity is harder to define. It's trendy in fitness to say that an opportunity is a chance to grit it out and prove how tough you are both inside and out (or some crap like that). But really, the opportunity is WHATEVER you make it. It's hot - opportunity to try these new shoes, opportunity to see if I can finish the workout without water, opportunity to make sure I get enough water, opportunity to get some sun, opportunity to try a new rep scheme for my pull ups.

When you see the world as opportunities you aren't limited to one pathway of thinking. The opportunity for working out in the heat doesn't just have to be about maximizing the workout and overcoming the challenge. It can be about learning what DOESN'T work. Don't get me wrong, that'll make for a shitty feeling workout but it isn't a waste - now you know something that doesn't work when it's hot.

Most importantly when you start seeing the world as full of opportunities you've got nothing to complain about. Have you ever had a friend complain about the opportunity they had? Of course not.
