There comes a time in every CrossFitter's life when they realize that the Open WOD HQ announced is just plain stupid. That day is today.
As such we will have 2 versions of this workout: "HQ Registered" and "MTM Open". If you're officially signed up and want to submit a score in the official CrossFit Open you'll be adhearing to their rules and standards as always. If you're just doing the MTM Open you'll have a similar but different workout.
Why? Because frankly the standards for this workout are bullshit. Even the scaled standards require STRICT HSPU... which means for many people this workout would be 30-40 lunges, 50 step ups and done. And last only 4-6 min. That's a waste of a workout.
So, if you're not officially signed up and only doing the MTM Open we've got some specific changes.
- 1.5/1p KB may be used in place of a dumbbell (to allow larger heats)
- HSPU may be performed Kipping. Rx'd will allow an abmat on the floor.
Additional changes, like using a plate or a box for your HSPU will be allowed but will be classified as scaling.

• 50 dumbbell box step-ups
• 50 strict handstand push-ups
• 200-ft handstand walk
M 50-lb. dumbbell / 24-in. box
W 35-lb. dumbbell / 20-in. box
Time cap: 10 minutes
MTM Open Athletes
200' OH DB/KB Lunges (1.5/1p)(50/35)
50 Box Step Ups (same weight as lunges) (24/20)
50 HSPU (Any Way, Abmat on the floor will be considered RX'd)
200' HS Walk (scaled bear crawl)
